From adulthood to infancy of the Futteral inspired by Herman v. Gochs
8.
Inserted a leather band
7.
The vegetable tanned leather has been dyed with vinegaroon via a historically accurate chemical reaction: the tannins in the leather react with iron acetate to form a complex that appears black.
6.
The Futteral has been tooled to completion
5.
WIP of the tooling of the leather, I have used things I found around the house for it. i.e. a blunt needle, the ferrule of a paint brush, the metal part of a pencil that holds the eraser.
4.
Roughly tooled the layout
3.
Far right: the backside of the Futteral. It was my third futteral overall. Practice makes better, I hope
2.
Second from the bottom: first layer of the Futteral with the flesh side on the outside.
1.
Prepared a sketch and a wooden core for this project.
